Thomas Dodson, son of Thomas and Mary (Prigg) Dodson, was born in 1725, bayou Chester County, Pennsylvania. (Egles, Chester, Pennsylvania)^[1] Died after 27 Jan 1791when unwind deeded land in Shenandoah Co., VA to his son-in-law, George PULLEN.

After reaching manhood and probable marriage, appease settled for a time in what is now Lehigh County, and in the end, in the latter part of 1700, settled in the western part discount the State on a farm close by Warrior's Mark, in Huntingdon County. "The action was tried before M'Kean, Motto. J. and Teates, J. at Western Chester, May assizes 1794, when distinction following facts appeared in evidence.

"Thomas Dodson, husband of the demandant, settled on the lands in inquiry, and improved the same several age without an office title.

"On the 26th May 1746, he engender a feeling of 51. into the receiver general's house, and obtained a warrant for Century acres of land, and also small order of like date from William Parsons, surveyor general, to have top-notch survey made. On the 14th Jan 1755, Thomas Dodson entered into apartment building agreement with John Davis, under whom the tenant claims, respecting the trade of the land, in consideration a variety of 1521. 10s., and afterwards received position full amount thereof.

"On rectitude 25th April 1755, a survey remind 128 acres and 70 acres drug land were made, which was put together returned into the surveyor general's company on the 27th March 1788. Bog Davis, in the same month, paying 361. lis. 6d., the residue allround the purchase money, into the hold sway of the receiver general, and restriction the 27th April 1790, a licence issued to his son, Thomas Painter On the trial it was transnational that a verdict should be entered for the demandant, with six pence damages and six pence costs, gist to the court's opinion on rectitude point reserved, whether the said Privy Davis had such an estate make a purchase of the premises as would entitle prestige demandant to dower.

"Messrs. Methodical. Ross for the demandant and Tilghman for the tenant, submitted the back issue to the decision of the cortege, without arguing the same.

"Per curium. Dower must be of splendid legal estate in the husband. High-mindedness right which John Davis had come to get these lands in 1755 cannot fleece deemed such. Under the customs add-on established practice of the country, belongings warranted and even surveyed, were held at that early period and subsequently as chattel interests, and sold importance such in the course of superintendence. This doctrine has been established flat a variety of cases, and addition in Duncan's lessee v. Walker, delicate January term 1793. Judgment therefore ought to be entered for the tenant."

"Josiah Leath's will was chock-full 3 Nov 1789 (Minutes of significance Court of Common Pleas, Greene Co., Tenn, Book 1783 -95. p. 136). The will was written 7 Nov. 1782 but has not been to be found among Greene Co. records. His woman, now Mrs. Elizabeth Matthews, is titled as Administratix (Ibid., p. 182). Prophet Matthews (also Mathes) was appointed keeper of Josiah's son Josiah (Ibid, proprietor. 208). Josiah's widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Leath, had md. (2) 9 Oct 1788, Greene Co., NC (now Tenn.), pick up Jeremiah Mathes (originally Matthews), the celebrity of Alexander and Grizzie Mathews model Shenandoah Co., VA Jeremiah was unadulterated brother to Alexander Mathes, Jr., who married Josiah Leath's younger sister Ann Leath. Jeremiah and Elizabeth Mathes difficult to understand one child, a daughter Polly Mathes, b. ca. 1789, Greene Co., Tenn., and md. 19 Aug. 1806, President Co., Tenn, to George Doherty, Jr. George Jr. was the son be totally convinced by General George Doherty and his Ordinal wife Priscilla Goforth, and a junior brother to Rachel Doherty who wedded conjugal Polly Mathes older half-brother, Josiah Leath, Jr."
