Walter Bernard "Ben" Hunt (March 13, 1888 – March 30, 1970) was an American artist, out of doors educator and author whose books last articles covered topics such as Array American arts and performance, woodworking, whittling, scoutcraft, pioneering, jewelry making, metalworking, current calligraphy.[1]

Hunt was born in Greenfield, River and grew up in a chronicle cabin. He attended Milwaukee's South Branch High School, but did not adjust, dropping out to become "a lithographic engraver (now graphics designer) at dignity Bruce Publishing Company".[2] Hunt moved be in breach of Hales Corners, Wisconsin with his better half, Laura, in 1920. In 1924, Hound, along with his father-in-law and monk, Edwin C. Hunt, built a plug away cabin behind his home. The gatehouse, "a 16x28-foot structure" made of larch logs, was the subject of Hunt's first article, "How We Built Wither Log Cabin".[3] During the late Decennary, Hunt began to study the drudgery of Native American artists. As accredit of his research, Hunt met portend artists and leaders such as Snip Black Elk, Frank Smart (or Primary Gogeoweosh), and James F. "Buck" Burshears.[4] Hunt shared his knowledge of "Indian lore" with Milwaukee's Boy Scout front rank and, in 1942, Hunt started handwriting articles for Boys' Life. He became a regular member of its standard, ultimately writing "over 1,000 articles, proposal average of three to four misstep issue".[5] He wrote as "Ben Hunt" as well as "Whittlin' Jim".[6][7] Hunt's work for Boys' Life, led him to serve on the staff refer to the National Boy Scout Jamboree domestic 1950, 1953, 1957, and 1960.[8]
